PG Fell Down In The End, Missing 6 Weeks → Season Out Following Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George (35) of the National Basketball Association (NBA) has been ruled out for the season. His debut season in Philadelphia left many regrets along with injuries.

Citing the Philadelphia club's announcement on the 18th (Korea time), U.S. media ESPN said, "George will be out for at least six weeks after receiving injection treatment for left adductor muscle (groin muscle) and left knee treatment," adding, "He will no longer play during this regular season." 메이저놀이터

George played this season with multiple injuries (groin, finger, knee, etc.). He has been battling constant pain for the past month.

He reportedly played five games before the NBA All-Star break by injecting painkillers. In the end, Philadelphia decided not to use George for the rest of the season.

Philadelphia is 12th in the Eastern Conference as of the 18th before the game. It is five games apart from the 10th place with a play-in tournament qualification. In fact, it seems that they have decided not to use players too much at a time when they have to give up the season.
Meanwhile, media outlets reported that George's debut season in Philadelphia was disappointing. There is a reason. George signed a four-year, up to 212 million-dollar extension contract with Philadelphia in July last year. There were expectations that he would build a "big four" following Joel Embiid, Tyreece Maxey, and James Harden.

In fact, George averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists this season, showing below expectations.

Health issues have also been pointed out. George missed the first five games of the season due to an over-extended left knee injury in the preseason, and again injured the same knee in November, missing an additional three games.

In January this year, he injured his left pinkie, and recently missed four consecutive games due to a groin injury, worsening his condition.

George also stopped his podcast activities at the end of last month and focused on his body care, but he faced the result of an early season deadline.

For Philadelphia, it is a complete failure of the season. Ace Embiid was already ruled out for the season late last month. Even George collapsed and faced a precarious situation. "Philadelphia is currently ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference with 23 wins and 44 losses, and its chances of advancing to the playoffs have virtually disappeared," the media said. "However, there is a possibility that Philadelphia will benefit from ruining this season. This year's first-round draft pick has a sixth-ranked protection clause, so if it maintains the sixth-lowest winning rate, it can protect its right to draft pick."

In other words, Philadelphia is likely to focus on tanking (deliberate decline in performance) to increase the probability of draft rotation for the rest of the season.
